DEALING WITH “SALTS”

Unions often use trained organizers called “Salts” to infiltrate Employers to organize the employees or put the company out of business.

These union organizers do this by misrepresenting their experience and work history or overtly communicating that they wish to petition the National Labor Relations Board to organize your company.

The “Salt” either hopes they are denied employment so they can file a charge with the Federal Government against you, or after becoming employed, will begin creating division within your company with the ultimate goal of either forming a union or putting you out of business.

To achieve their goals, these “Salts” trap an inexperienced or untrained member of management into violating the National Labor Relations Act, which can destroy a business (which, in our experience, is often the union’s goal) or extract thousands of dollars from the Employer.

“Salting” is a surprisingly common practice, and we at Burdzinski are well-versed in the tactics used by unions to attack Employers in this manner.

While we will not go into our tried and true strategies for dealing with “Salts” here, we encourage you to contact Burdzinski should you have already faced or could be dealing with this unscrupulous union practice.
